Long-range wireless, designed and run in Canada

Maple Wireless designs, deploys and runs the networks that reach where cellular does not: across a property, a watershed, a worksite or a county. MeshCore, LoRa and LoRaWAN, from the link budget to the console.

The Maple Wireless mark: a radio mast sending two arcs of signal

A network with no single point of failure

A cellular network is a hub with spokes: take out the hub and every spoke goes dark at once. A mesh has no hub. Every node relays for every other, so a message finds whatever path is still standing, and each node you add makes the network stronger rather than more congested.

Three protocols, chosen on the merits

  • MeshCore

Peer-to-peer mesh for messaging and telemetry with no infrastructure at all. Every node routes for its neighbours, so coverage grows with the network.

    • No gateway required
    • Self-healing routes
    • Ideal for resilience
  • LoRaWAN

Star topology through gateways to a network server. The right answer when you have many sensors, a fixed catchment and a need for managed device lifecycles.

    • Thousands of devices
    • Public or private server
    • Class A, B and C
  • LoRa, point to point

The raw modulation, without a stack on top. Where two places simply need to talk and everything else would be overhead.

    • Longest single links
    • Lowest latency
    • Minimal power budget

What Maple Wireless does

  • Network design and coverage planning

Path and terrain analysis, link budgets, gateway and repeater siting, and a written coverage model you keep whoever builds the network.

  • Installation and deployment

MeshCore repeaters for commercial and residential property: mounting, solar or mains and PoE power, weatherproofing, commissioning and documentation.

  • LoRaWAN networks

Private and public LoRaWAN: gateway deployment, network server selection and hosting, device onboarding and integration with the systems you already run.

  • Managed networks

Ongoing operation: monitoring, alerting, firmware campaigns, battery lifecycle and scheduled site maintenance.

  • Hardware and firmware

Custom sensor nodes, gateways, enclosures and power budgets, and the embedded firmware that runs on them.

  • Maple Wireless Cloud

A platform-as-a-service for mesh networks: device management, firmware distribution, message routing and administration. MeshCore today, built for what comes next.

How an engagement runs

  1. 01

    Survey

Terrain, distances, obstructions, and where power and mounting already exist. Desk study first, site visit where the map leaves a question.
  2. 02

    Model

A predicted link budget for every hop, and a written map of what the network will and will not reach. Yours to keep, whoever builds it.
  3. 03

    Build

Mounting, power, weatherproofing and commissioning. Solar where there is no mains, PoE where there is, sized for a Canadian December.
  4. 04

    Hand over

Documentation good enough that somebody else could maintain it. You should be able to run it without Maple Wireless, which is what makes staying a choice.

Part of Maple Open Tech

Maple Wireless is a subsidiary of Maple Open Tech Corp. and the communications end of its stack: the radios, the mesh, and the platform that manages them. Being part of the group is why one company can offer the embedded firmware and the cloud software, and why a network does not depend on one person staying interested in it.

Tell Maple Wireless what has to reach further

A property, a worksite, a watershed, a county. Describe the ground and what has to cross it, and you will get an honest answer about what it would take, including when mesh is the wrong one.
